The Port Isabel City Commission gathered at City Hall on Tuesday for a special meeting. With all four city commissioners in attendance along with the mayor and city manager, the meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. to discuss the three items on the agenda.
The first topic of deliberation was centered on a resolution to submit a grant proposal to the Office of the Governor for the acquisition of body cameras via the Officer Worn Body Cam Project.
The state-funded grant would supply the City with the monies to purchase body cameras of their choice for Port Isabel police officers. Waterproof cameras were briefly talked about, before Mayor Juan Jose “J.J.” Zamora called for a motion to approve the resolution.
