Some 535 letters are being sent this month to people with unpaid tickets issued by the Town of Laguna Vista to pay up or face the prospect of going to jail.
“The Town is partnering with its delinquent tax attorneys in participating on ‘The Sweep’ Warrant Roundup, and is initiating its own one internally, as well,” City Manager Rolando Vela said.
The Town has $481,889 in unpaid tickets, Vela said.
It is important for people to resolve their outstanding tickets, as all outstanding warrants for traffic citations have been reported to the Texas Department of Public Safety and to a collection agency. “If you have an outstanding warrant for a traffic citation, you will be unable to renew your driver’s license,” Vela said.
