Special to the PRESS
The Laguna Madre Water District [LMWD] is excited to announce the Employee of the Month of March 2023. After much consideration of the employees nominated for this honor, LMWD would like to Congratulate Oracio “OJ” Alcocer for being selected. This announcement was made during LMWD’s Department Supervisors Meeting last week.
Alcocer was nominated by Pedro Gonzalez and Jose Martinez, Manager and Assistant Manager of the Construction Maintenance Department and the Committee voted to select him. In the nomination, Gonzalez stated, “He is a great employee, a huge asset to our department and is deserving of this recognition.”
Alcocer will reach his 10th year with the Laguna Madre Water District this May. He has worked in the Construction Maintenance Department for the past three years as Tech I. However, Alcocer first started as Meter Reader and then Technician in the Distribution Department. Alcocer shared that his goal is to keep moving up within LMWD.
In the official nomination submitted, his supervisors also stated that Alcocer “is a great worker,” and he takes “the time with new employees to personally show them the ins and outs of our department.” Also “when someone is struggling or not getting something done, he offers assistance rather than just standing back and watching.” Furthermore, they stated, Alcocer is “reliable, hardworking, dedicated, confident, great team worker, critical thinker and strives to get the job done!” These are all qualities of an exemplary employee and deserving of this honor.
When asked how he felt about being selected as Employee of the Month, Alcocer said, “It feels good! I really like working here. The people I work with are great. We all get along, and we have very respectful, good managers. I have learned a lot these past 10 years!”
