Local psychedelic surf rock band, Los Surfvivers, has some big waves to catch, and they are asking for the community’s support.

The band’s story starts in 2017. Band members, Sean Macaulay, “Radical” Ross Lee, and Shea Ellis, bonded through their mutual passion for creating music. Their common interests, surfing, skating, traveling, reggae and rock, are a huge influence on their unique sound and their connection with each other, as well as the ocean-side community of the Lower Laguna Madre.

“We are surfers that create surf music,” summarized Ellis.

The band is deeply connected to South Padre Island, as it is their home. The band describes the Island as a truly beautiful place with many moods and expressions. According to Macauley, it is always changing, but somehow, always stays the same. Macauley says their mission as a band is to “create music you never knew you needed,” that shares the band’s unique perspective of the world, as it has been shaped by growing up on this south Texas Island.

“Every town has its history. Every place has a story,” said Macauley. “We want to share our home with you.”

Los Surfvivers has released four records, their self-titled album, Los Surfvivers, Surfari, The Good The Bad and The Rad, and No Contest, as well as two singles. They have exclusively self-recorded and self-produced every single one of their songs. The band started out playing where they could, but now can proudly say that they have played all over Texas.

“We feel like now is the time to take the next big step in our music career,” said Ellis.

The trio piqued the interest of Edgewater Music Group, a music production and artist development company in Houston Texas, and has offered to produce a new album. The company has already lined up major label distribution through The Orchard and Sony Music.
