Commissioner hires radar patrol
Texas Land commissioner Jerry Sadler has hired a radar equipped patrol boat to guard Spanish vessels which were sunk off Padre Island during a hurricane in 1553.  The hulls are believed to contain millions of dollars in silver, gold and artifacts.  Sadler says he’s concerned about reports of two-man submarines in the area. (Editor’s note: this was originally aired on WBAP-TV (Television station: Fort Worth, TX) on July 23, 1969.)
Crocodile escapes Matamoros circus, doors are barred
MATAMOROS-Matamoros residents barred their doors Saturday night when the Beas Modelo circus reported that a seven-foot crocodile had escaped from the show grounds and was hunting a meal in the city. Circus employees reported that the big “crock” had escaped several times in other cities but that “it always returned at meal time.” The crocodile has been used in an act in which Professor A. Blacaman, billed as an Indian fakir, purports to hypnotize the huge reptile. (Editor’s note: this was originally published in the Brownsville Valley Sunday Star Monitor Herald on July 20, 1937)
