Marina Wise-Herring is equally proficient with either a still camera, batting glove or pen in her hand. A standout athlete on the Port Isabel High School varsity softball team, Marina has been participating in various softball programs since the age of seven, and has been selected to a number of select teams.
Marina was selected to the PIHS varsity squad as a freshman and was the team’s starting left fielder by the time she was a sophomore. She garnered All-District Honorable Mention and Second Team All-Metro honors last year, as well. “I don’t know why I love it (softball) so much, I just do. I’ve been doing it for a long time,” she said, adding that her defensive play is the strongest aspect of her game. “I made one error the entire year last year,” she explained.
