Port Isabel Rotary to receive charter
PORT ISABEL, Sept. 1- Final plans were made this week for the entertainment of three hundred Rotarians and their wives at the charter presentation ceremony here Saturday Sept 5.
The Port Isabel club’s charter will be received from the past district governor, Ed Arneson of San Antonio, who was governor of the 47th district when the club was organized. (The Brownsville Herald, Sept.1,1936)

Mexico Discontinues Nazi Oil Shipments
Reports were circulated here Saturday night that shipments of Mexican oil from Tampico to Germany have been discontinued because of the war risk. It is understood that oil now in transit has been re-routed to other countries. Official confirmation of the reports was lacking. (Valley Sunday Star-Monitor-Herald (Harlingen, Tx.), Sept. 3, 1939)
