The City of Port Isabel held a special meeting on Aug. 27.
The PRESS spoke with the assistant to the City Manager, John Sandoval, about some of the items discussed on the agenda.
There was no action on the resolution to appoint or reappoint members to the Economic Development Corporation Board. The issue will be recalled on the next agenda.
An agreement between TxDot and Port Isabel was approved for a grant. The grant will be used to fund a bike and pedestrian safety trail. Sandoval said it would begin at the downtown area, circle Garriga Elementary, run near Railroad Street and to South Garcia.
The city accepted a grant from The Valley Baptist Legacy Foundation to help fund the Laguna Madre Park improvement project. The grant was for the amount of $500,000.
