Special to the PRESS
Respeta Tu Playa-Respect Your Beach and Sea Turtles, Inc. organized a beach clean-up on South Padre Island from County Access #6 to one mile north of where State Highway 100 ends; a distance of several miles. There were over 165 energetic volunteers of all ages who came out to support the cleanup efforts. The area targeted really needed the help because there are no trash drums on the beach this far north. The group gathered over five tons of trash and hauled it off. It was a very successful project and we hope that all of us who enjoy our beach will be inspired by this effort.
