South Padre Parade
It was a weekend of fun for those on two wheels as South Padre Island played host to two cycling-friendly events.
The City hosted its first annual Cyclovia — a cycling, skating and pedestrian-friendly event — on Saturday afternoon. Two miles of Padre Boulevard were blocked off, allowing participants to enjoy a street fair-like atmosphere while riding bikes, using skates, or just going for a stroll.
On Sunday, more than 1,000 cyclists gathered in Brownsville for Pedal to Padre, a 30 mile group ride that ended on the Island. Gray skies couldn’t dampen spirits, though, as cyclists pedaled their way over the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway en masse for the final stretch.
