SPI Sessions, a hub for water sports on South Padre Island, helped make dreams come through this month.
Anita Headstrom is an 81-year-old woman from Denver Colorado. In her lifetime, she has only ever surfed once.
“Of course [I] fell a lot, but always got back up,” said Hedstrom of the experience.
Her sister lives on the Island, and that’s what brought her to the Gulf of Mexico this summer. She’s been here many times, but this time, something was different.
“Until this year I never knew you had surfing,” said Hedstrom.
Aarin Hartwell, owner of SPI Sessions, told the PRESS that it was on Hedstrom’s bucketlist to give surfing another go.
According to Hedstrom, she found SPI Sessions, and their surf lessons, online, called, and set up a session.
