The Texas Amateur Athletic Federation recognizes Elle Wall of Port Isabel as the Female Athlete of the Year, adding to the growing list of accolades for this exceptional young talent.

Elle Wall’s athletic prowess was already apparent in early grade school, sprinting faster than her peers. At just four years old, she achieved the remarkable feat of making a ten-foot basketball shot at Water Tower Park on South Padre Island. Elle fearlessly joined teenage boys in shooting baskets, beginning her journey into various sports, including swimming, skateboarding, basketball, skimboarding, surfing, and playing catch with her father.

At the tender age of seven, Elle began her swimming journey by joining a USA swim team in Brownsville. Mastering freestyle and breaststroke, she swiftly rose to the top of her age group, consistently securing first-place finishes in swim meets. Elle’s proficiency in swimming was further honed during her attendance at the University of Texas Swim Camp in Austin a couple of summers ago, a prestigious week-long camp attracting swimmers from across the nation, coached by 15 Olympians.

Her foray into organized basketball began at the Port Isabel Girls and Boys Club, where, even as a young player among older boys, Elle displayed promise and agility, once securing a last-second victory with a critical basket. Transitioning to public school in the eighth grade, she added volleyball and track to her repertoire. Elle’s sprinting and high jump skills stood out in track, setting a new high jump record for middle schools in the Rio Grande Valley and dominating the 100, 200, and 400-yard sprints.
